Waking up early in the morning, we decided to have our breakfast in the famous "Chiayi Soy Milk House". Fortunately, there
were still some seats, and then we found ourselves one and ordered the foods. A steamed bun with egg and meat floss plus a
glass of soy milk just made our day; we guessed that must be the reason why there are
always people waiting outside.
After finishing our breakfast, we roamed around the market in Lanjing Street. There was a special story about
it. Back in 1635, there was a well built by
Dutch, and
the Chinese pronunciation of Holland is "he lan", and the well is
"jing". Therefore, this
street was named: "Lanjing Street".
Although
it was early in the morning, it was full of people in the market.
We literally
spent several hours to visit every corner of it.
You can find traditional
snacks everywhere.
If you enjoy walking in the market, you should come and
visit!
There
was also the historical Chiayi Cheng-Huang Temple next to the market; it's
worth to visit.
Next,
we went to visit Chiayi Park. Initially, we thought it was just an ordinary
park, but after going deeply inside we found that there were lots of cultural
heritages in there; for example, Chiayi City Historical Archive Museum and
Sun-Shooting Tower.
Chiayi City Historical Archive Museum is an
ancient Japanese-style buiding construted with Chinese junipers. There were many record of history about Chiayi from
period of Japanese colony and after. If
you are interested to know more about Chiayi, this place is a perfect choice.
Walking
further at the park, we arrived at the 12-floored building: the Sun-Shooting
Tower.
The
shape of it was based on the Alishan divine tree and it is also the highest
view platform in Chiayi city. Additionally, its name came from the legend of
natives of Taiwan.
Today's
last spot was Holland Lake. This lake was surrounded by green plantations.
We
rode our bikes along the lake which was more than 3km. Even though we were
exhausted right at the middle of the road, we still made it to the end. For
people who are into exercising, we highly recommend this spot, but don't forget
to apply sunscreen and drink more water!
After
today's trip, we got to know more about Chiayi and Taiwan.
